Marahib ya helwin!
My name is Sam, a Beiruti girl with an endless curiosity for the arts. My love for music, dance, theatre, and visual arts has been shaped by my experiences, my circle of friends, and the moments we’ve shared exploring Lebanon’s cultural landscape.
Over the years, I’ve realized that many people crave these experiences but don’t always know where to start. Inspired by my recurring FOMO (and my desire to save you guys from it), I launched a page on Instagram (samdoingthiings) dedicated to navigating the diversity & oddness that this scene has to offer. Through this platform, I cover the rhythms of underground gigs, the movement of dancers breaking physical and emotional boundaries, the raw energy of theatre performances, and the quiet intensity of art exhibitions that linger long after you leave.
As someone always on the lookout for what’s new, odd, and that opens my jaw in awe, I’ve decided to share these with my community.
Amidst the intensity and the chaos of this fast-paced world, especially with the upheaval of our sociopolitical reality, we could all use something that makes our heart beat again— and there’s nothing more beautiful than experiencing it together.
From experimental productions to must-see exhibitions, from independent musicians to dancers redefining movement, this column captures the beating heart of live and visual arts. If it moves, speaks, or paints a story worth experiencing, you’ll find it here.
In this column, I’ll be telling you about events that have happened during the past two weeks which I’ve attended while also giving you a glimpse of what’s coming up in the next two weeks.
Stay tuned, stay inspired, and let’s keep doing things.
