MAYA RAFIE

Story 1 - Nigat

On Sundays, my friends and I gather to cook traditional meals, reconnecting me to my Ethiopian roots. Baba is an amazing host. Unlike many who restrict their helpers and workers, Baba treats me like family. I live as though I’m with my own father, with the freedom to do as I please. My friends visit as if they’re coming to their own parents’ house, laughing and having fun. Baba has immense respect for everyone and loves us as his own children. No friend leaves our home sad; whoever arrives upset, leaves happy.
