What\u2019s a fear you\u2019ve overcome and how did you find the courage to face it?<\/b><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

If you\u2019ve visited Beirut in the last 10 years, there\u2019s a huge chance you\u2019ve met @mayanoise<\/a> (otherwise known as Chef Maya \ud83d\udc69\ud83c\udffc\u200d\ud83c\udf73). At a young age, Maya learned how to cook from her mother. Exhausted from constantly catering Maya\u2019s parties, birthdays, sleepovers, and just-because celebrations, Maya\u2019s mother put her foot down and said: You\u2019re going to learn how to cook your own damn food to celebrate. It started with lasagna, and the rest is history.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Now, Maya is a chef on the go. You\u2019ll either catch her zooming around Beirut on her white Vespa, in a signature blue helmet covered in stickers, filming a rant on her Instagram stories, or whipping up a variety of delicious meals at pop-up events for her family and friends.\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

With someone so well-known, and seemingly self-assured, it\u2019s shocking to hear that her greatest fear is not living up to her true potential. \u201cOr that I\u2019m not fighting hard enough for what I want.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Maya\u2019s constantly battling \u2018the voices\u2019 of self-doubt about a number of things, especially her career as a chef, and regularly asks herself: What the hell am I doing? Am I actually living the life I\u2019m meant to live?<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cI know everyone feels the same fears of failure, or not reaching the goals they set for themselves.\u201d The question is: How to overcome it? Her answer is simple: \u201cDon\u2019t give into that fear – lean into it. Be kinder to yourself. Be compassionate.
